16-03: 9S and the God Box
[9S enters the God Box.]
Pod 153: Alert: Excessive combat activity will put unacceptable strain on your body.
9S: Shut up!
Pod 153: Negative. This support unit is assigned to YoRHa unit 9S. As such, being concerned for said unit’s well-being is a requirement.
9S: Ugh! Whatever.
[9S fights his way up to the top of the God Box. As he approaches the wall near the tower's core... a familiar face comes into view. 21O, decked out in combat gear, her eyes red from infection.]
9S: Model 21O...
[She stares impassively at him.]
9S: Operator?
21O: RAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGAAAAAHHH!!
[21O summons linked sphere type machines, who begin firing on 9S.]
9S: Oh no... So this Operator model is...?
Pod 153: Affirmative. Operator 21O. Volunteered to undergo Type-B equipment transition during previous descent. Sent to front lines as unit 21B. Recorded as missing in action four hours later.
9S: No...
[After destroying the linked sphere type machines, 21O's body sparks and crackles as she raises her sword.]
21O: Aaaaugh! Uggggh...
9S: Operator!
[21O begins attacking 9S. As they fight...]
21O: ...coordinate data... location specified... Please keep...... reserved ......m-m-mission-related... Ugh... Ahh... One... af-firmation... w-w-will ...su... ffice...
9S: Shit... Arrrgh!
21O: A f-family... to b-b-be with... P-Pl... ease... kiiiiiill... Agh... I... just wanted a family... Ugh... Ahh... I was so lone... ly... I wanted to be... wi-ith 9S...
9S: It's all right... It's all right... Because... I'm going to kill you!
[9S strikes 210. The fight is over... 21O is lying face down on the ground, motionless, and 9S collapses onto his butt from the exertion. Except... 21O is still infected and still very much up for more fighting. Standing, she screams.]
21O: Ugh... uhh... AAAAAAHHHHHH!!
[21O rushes 9S only to be stopped when a sword impales her from behind. After 21O slides off A2's blade, A2 walks over and repeatedly stabs 21O until she stops moving. Removing the sword, she walks towards 9S, who backs away. But instead of attacking him, A2 walks past 9S.]
9S: A2!
[A2 stops walking.]
A2: ...... 2B told me... She told me she wanted you to... become a good person.
[9S stands up, drawing his sword.]
9S: You...
[9S tries to strike A2 with his weapon, who defends raises her own sword to block the swing.]
9S: Don't you dare talk to me about 2B!
[The ground collapses and 9S falls through.]
